# FETCH_IMAGE_ERROR

> FETCH_IMAGE_ERROR means Bannerify could not download or read an image that the template uses, such as an image that you set with src. The API sends status 400.

## Problem

Bannerify could not download or read an image that the template uses, including an image that you set with `src` in a modification. The API sends status 400.

This happens when:

- The download takes longer than 5 seconds. Bannerify retries twice before it gives up.
- The host refuses the connection, or answers with an error status.
- The file is not a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or SVG image.
- The image is too large to process.

## Solution

Open the image URL in a private browser window. It must load without a login and show an image.

If the host sits behind a CDN or a firewall, such as Cloudflare, check that it allows requests from Bannerify. Hosts that block unknown clients cause most of these errors.

Use a smaller file on a fast host if the download is slow or the image is large.

If that does not help, write to [an@bannerify.co](mailto:an@bannerify.co) with the `requestId`.
