How do I convert TIFF to JPG?

Add your TIFF files to the converter on this page. JPEG is already selected, so each file converts as soon as you add it. Then download each JPG, or download all of them as one ZIP.

Is TIF the same as TIFF?

Yes. TIF and TIFF are two extensions of the same format, the Tagged Image File Format. The converter reads both. JPG and JPEG are also the same format, and the converter saves each file with the .jpeg extension.

Is this TIFF to JPG converter free?

Yes. You need no account, and there is no limit on the number of files, because your own computer does the work. The JPG files have no watermark.

Are my TIFF files uploaded to a server?

No. The converter runs libvips, an open-source image library, in your browser with WebAssembly. Your scans and photos never leave your device.

Is the JPG smaller than the TIFF?

For photos and scans, yes, often by 80% or more. A TIFF often keeps every pixel without loss, so one scan can take 100 MB, and a JPG uses lossy compression. A TIFF with large flat areas, such as a chart, a logo, or a black-and-white fax, is the exception: its JPG can be bigger. For those, choose PNG.

Does the JPG keep the quality of the TIFF?

The converter saves each JPG at quality 82 of 100. JPG is a lossy format, so the JPG is not an exact copy of the TIFF. To keep every pixel, choose PNG in the format list before you add the files.

What happens to a TIFF with more than one page?

The JPG has the first page only, because a JPG holds one image. The other pages are not converted.

Can it convert 16-bit, grayscale, and CMYK TIFF files?

Yes. A 16-bit TIFF becomes an 8-bit JPG, because a JPG stores 8 bits for each color. A grayscale or black-and-white TIFF becomes a grayscale JPG. A CMYK TIFF from print work becomes a CMYK JPG. LZW, ZIP, JPEG, and fax (Group 4) compression all work.

What happens to a transparent background?

A JPG cannot store transparency, so the transparent parts of the TIFF turn black in the JPG. To keep a transparent background, choose PNG in the format list before you add the files.

Can I convert TIFF to PNG or WebP?

Yes. Choose PNG or WebP in the format list before you add the files. PNG keeps every pixel and the transparency. To convert other formats, such as WebP to JPG, use the image converter.

How do I get JPG images from my app?

A Bannerify template renders to PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF. You choose the format in each API request, so your app gets JPG files with no conversion step.

Doing this a thousand times?

A Bannerify template renders your images as JPEG, PNG, WebP, or PDF from one API call, so your app never converts files by hand.
